Readiness to doubt

I am feeling increasingly an invitation to have questions rather than answers, to embrace doubt, to think differently and respect others' ideas. Some quotes in that regard --

Men become civilized, not in proportion to their willingness to believe, but in proportion to their readiness to doubt.

-H.L. Mencken, writer, editor, and critic (1880-1956)

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

-Bertrand Russell

Commandment Number One for any truly civilized society is this: Let people be different.

-David Grayson [pen name of Ray Stannard Baker], journalist, author (1870-1946)
