Just sayings

I am gradually moving from use of a paper calendar to an electronic one. Before I give up my paper planner with theme of blooms and pithy quotes, I want to share a few of the recent days’ inspiring sayings.

Vitality shows not only in the ability to persist, but in the ability to start over. – F. Scott Fitzgerald

The highest reward for man’s toil is not what he gets for it, but what he becomes by it. – John Ruskin

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” – George Bernard Shaw

In great matters men show themselves as they wish to be seen; in small matters, as they are. – Gamaliel Bradford

“The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheaply, we esteem too lightly, ‘tis dearness only that gives everything its value.” – Thomas Paine

“The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but to reveal to him his own.” – Benjamin Disraeli
